If I had named this dog I would have called her sugar, that’s how sweet she is even after enduring a painful past.  When I took her into my home for Diane at ULPR she had just come from the Vet.  We nursed her for the next two weeks; cleaning her 60 stitches and her drain tubes, making sure she took her antibiotics and pain medication.  The Vet said she was lucky that she was so fat.  It probably saved her life.  Without complaint she suffered the “toga” I fashioned for her so she would not be able to scratch her wounds with her hind legs.  She rose from her bed only to go out twice a day to do her business.  Never once in her suffering did she soil her bed.

This, we later found out, was the third time this poor dog had been attacked by larger dogs.  Why I don’t understand.  She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body.

She gets along with my cat and my 8lb Pomeranian.  She is now recovered and doing well.  She loves to go on our walks.  She is on a “diet” and has lost a few pounds.  Eating better and walking exercise is helping.  She’s not much of a runner but will trot along happily.  She is a very low maintenance dog and would be perfect in any household with no other larger dogs.  She even loves children.
